The exhibition of Jan Pruski at Fijewski Gallery uncovers the varied formal strategies the renowned Polish artist uses to create introspective impressions of the memories, emotions and states of being that inhabit his psyche and, more importantly, his soul.
In its entirety, Windows reflects the consistent avenues of expression Pruski has been following for decades which reinterpret the legacy of abstract modernism as, even though he seeks the purest forms and has stayed faithful to his repertoire, he also relies on the formal and symbolic attributes of objects. For this reason, Pruski’s internal exploration escapes all labels and has stayed true to the creative path he has carved for himself, one that, in his own words, is devoted to using “a minimum of materials to a maximum of art” and, one may add, emotion.
